Terms of Service
Last updated: February 2026
Welcome to KANONYQ. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of KANONYQ’s forensic narrative audit services. By using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Please read these Terms carefully before submitting a manuscript for audit.
Definitions
“Order Acceptance” means KANONYQ’s email confirmation that it has received: (i) full payment, (ii) the complete manuscript in an accepted format, (iii) all required intake materials, and (iv) any supplemental payment required for excess word count.
“Commencement” means the earlier of: (a) analyst assignment to the manuscript, (b) the start of substantive manuscript review, or (c) creation of client-specific diagnostic work product.
“Business Day” means Monday through Friday.
“Customer Materials” means the manuscript, intake responses, notes, and any other materials submitted by the customer.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using KANONYQ services, you confirm that:
-
You are at least 18 years of age.
-
You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
-
You accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our services.
2. Description of Services
KANONYQ provides forensic narrative audit services for completed fiction manuscripts and, in selected cases, narrative nonfiction projects accepted through a custom audit plan.
The public audit tiers are for completed novels. Projects outside that scope are handled only through separate written agreement.
Deliverables:
• Forensic Report (PDF): a comprehensive structural analysis
• Action Dossier (PDF): a prioritized, step-by-step rewrite plan
Important: KANONYQ is an analysis and audit service. We identify structural problems; we do not provide editing, ghostwriting, or revision services.
3. Ownership and Intellectual Property
Your Manuscript
-
You retain full ownership and all intellectual property rights to your manuscript.
-
By submitting a manuscript, you grant KANONYQ a limited, non-exclusive license to access and analyze your work solely for the purpose of providing the audit service.
-
This license terminates upon delivery of your report and deletion of your files.
-
We claim no rights, ownership, or interest in your creative work.
Our Reports
-
The audit report we deliver becomes your property upon payment.
-
You may use, share, or publish the report as you see fit.
-
The KANONYQ method, analytical framework, and reporting approach remain our intellectual property.
4. Manuscript Submission
By submitting a manuscript, you represent and warrant that:
-
You are the author or have authorization from the author to submit the work.
-
The manuscript does not infringe upon any third party’s intellectual property rights.
-
The manuscript does not contain illegal content.
-
The file is free of viruses, malware, or harmful code.
Accepted formats: .docx (preferred), .txt, .pdf (selectable text only—no scans), .epub.
Word count & pricing: Pricing is tiered by word count. The base price ($597) covers manuscripts up to 100,000 words. Extended tiers cover 100,001–160,000 words (see the Book Audit page). Manuscripts over 160,000 words require a custom quote.
5. Pricing and Payment
Pricing Tiers. Audit fees are determined by the exact word count of the submitted manuscript.
-
Base Price: $597 USD for manuscripts up to 100,000 words.
-
Extended Tiers: Supplemental fees apply for manuscripts between 100,001 and 160,000 words (prices detailed on the Booking page).
-
Custom Audit Plan: Manuscripts exceeding 160,000 words require a custom quote.
If your manuscript exceeds the purchased tier, we will email you the difference for approval before we begin. If approved, we will issue a supplemental Stripe invoice and begin the audit once the balance is settled.
Payment Terms
-
Payment is processed securely via Stripe.
-
Full payment is required before we begin work on your manuscript.
-
All prices are in US Dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated.
-
Prices are subject to change; the price at the exact time of purchase applies to your order.
Order Acceptance; excess word count
No order is accepted until Order Acceptance occurs. If a submitted manuscript exceeds the purchased pricing tier, KANONYQ may place the order on hold and request supplemental payment. The delivery timeline does not begin until any required supplemental payment has been received and Order Acceptance has occurred.
KANONYQ may decline a manuscript before Order Acceptance and, in that event, will issue a full refund.
6. Delivery, Cancellation, and Refunds
Delivery timeline. KANONYQ delivers the Forensic Report and Action Dossier within 7 Business Days of Order Acceptance. Delivery is made by email to the address provided at checkout.
Customer responsibilities. The customer is responsible for providing a correct email address, checking spam/junk folders, and submitting all required Customer Materials in a complete and readable form.
Cancellations before commencement. Orders are fully refundable until Order Acceptance. After Order Acceptance but before Commencement, the customer may cancel for a full refund.
No refunds after commencement. Because KANONYQ reserves analyst capacity and begins custom work promptly after Order Acceptance, orders are non-refundable after Commencement.
Exceptions. KANONYQ will provide a full refund if: (a) the customer is charged more than once for the same order, (b) KANONYQ declines the order before Order Acceptance, or (c) KANONYQ fails to deliver the service as described due to KANONYQ’s own failure.
Missed delivery deadline. If KANONYQ does not deliver within the promised timeframe, the customer may choose either: (i) a full refund, or (ii) a revised delivery date confirmed by KANONYQ in writing.
Editorial disagreement. Disagreement with KANONYQ’s editorial judgment, diagnosis, prioritization, or recommendations is not a basis for refund if the deliverables described on the order page were delivered.
Non-waivable rights. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights the customer may have under applicable law where the service was not delivered as described.
7. Refund Policy
No refunds after processing begins. Due to the nature of our service (analysis begins immediately upon order), we cannot offer refunds once your manuscript has entered our processing queue.
Exceptions
-
Duplicate Payment: If you are charged twice for the same order, we will refund the duplicate.
-
Service Failure: If we are unable to deliver a report due to a failure on our part, we will provide a full refund.
-
Before Commencement, customer cancellations are eligible for a full refund. After Commencement, orders are non-refundable except as expressly stated in these Terms.
If you have concerns about whether our service is right for your manuscript, please contact us at contact@kanonyq.com before ordering.
8. Confidentiality
